Day 16: Cave explorer

After eight hours of relaxed train journey, we arrived at Dong Hoi train station, where we shared a taxi with a Dutch couple to continue to Phong Nha, our actual destination. When we reached it, we were warmly welcomed by our host. After a free breakfast at the hotel, we explored the surrounding area by bike and rode along the water for a while. Then we returned to the city to start the boat tour to the Phong Nha Cave. After a 20-minute boat ride, we reached the cave. There, the engines were turned off to enjoy the silence and admire the impressive rock formations. It was very impressive what nature has created there. We were then dropped off in the cave and could explore more areas on foot. After that, we dared to climb up to another cave, whose entrance was at the top of the mountain. On the way up, we had a great view of the beautiful landscape of the National Park. After arriving back in the city by boat, we went to the 'Veggie Box' restaurant.
