I found the stone with the royal signatures! Just behind the Lofoten Cathedral on the E10.

This is how a good day starts ;o)

Clouds, sun, a pleasant 18 °C and no luggage let Hildegard and I have a happy and easy day out.

Lofoten has been inhabited for many centuries. There are traces of it, like everywhere we've been. In Bøstad there is an exhibition at the site of a rich find, the Lofotr Viking Museum. Here I can also tie a thread to Iceland. Because the story that is being told tells of a Prince Olav, who had his seat of power here in a long house and probably emigrated to Iceland because of political changes. There in Iceland there is an immigration book with the entry of his arrival. The people of Lofoten around 900 were quite tall people, which is attributed, among other things, to the predominantly protein-rich diet. It was also interesting to note that from around 1150 onwards in Europe wars slowly developed from wars of expansion (extension of power outwards) to civil wars (struggle for power within).

After the very entertaining visit to the Vikings, the route slowly leads back to the accommodation in Svolvaer through lovely sandy bays, rugged mountain views and after a visit inside the cathedral.
