The entrance to Monkey Forest

One thing to say at the beginning. I don't like monkeys. Or rather, I prefer to keep a generous distance from them. If you feel the same way, you might not want to go into a forest where 300 monkeys live. Because even though you might think that these monkeys see enough other people and want to get to know them, they will come straight to YOU.

But let's start at the beginning. We are informed that we should not scream (HaHa), not look directly into their eyes, not touch them (HaHa part 2), and not go near the baby macaques

The monkeys have a strict diet plan and also receive herbal plants for their health. The monkeys are considered sacred and are really well cared for. We are led through a kind of jungle with centuries-old trees.

The paths are well built and lead down to the river to the holy spring and on another path to the temple complex Pura Dalem Agung.

In this jungle, there are over 100 different tree species and perennials. The 300 monkeys live in the park in 4 different clans, each of which inhabits a different part of the park.
