04/05/2023 Seulo/Cagliari (Sardinia)

Today is another travel day. Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to our beloved Seulo. For the last time, we visit the bar for breakfast and stop by the small grocery store on our way back. Then we head towards Cagliari, the largest city in Sardinia. We have booked a nice holiday apartment in the outskirts of the city. On the way, we discover a sign for a Nuraghe and turn onto a side road, but it leads us back to the main road after 500m. Somehow, we lose interest in trying again. Five kilometers further, there's another sign for a Nuraghe to the right of our route. We dare to try again. After about 4 km, we are lucky and find Nuraghe Arubia. We buy 2 tickets and receive a written German guide. Equipped with this, we explore the approximately 5000 sqm site. We are simply amazed by the architectural skills that were mastered as early as 1700 BC. However, the question remains unanswered for me: how could they process stone blocks weighing many tons in a 20-meter-high structure during that time - unbelievable - or as my Anglo-Saxon friends would say: "oh my god - it's unbelievable - it's breathtaking". We finish our visit very impressed and continue towards Cagliari. After another 40 kilometers, we descend a pass into the plain of the city, which becomes noticeable in rising temperatures. We quickly reach our accommodation and are greeted warmly by Simone. We settle into our new home and go out to buy the essentials. Yes - it's amazing how quickly we feel at home in every new refuge, without thinking much about it. Our thoughts are always focused on today - on the here and now - what will we do tomorrow? Let tomorrow come first - then we will have a plan. We didn't plan to travel this way - this way of traveling found us and continues to inspire us every day.
