After some consideration, I finally decided to write a travel blog. This way I can capture my experiences and impressions in a very specific way, and anyone who wants to can be a part of my journey.
On Tuesday, September 4th, 2018, my great adventure began, with 13 kg at Dusseldorf Airport. On that day, I boarded the plane with mixed feelings. On one hand, I was very excited about my journey and curious about what awaited me, but on the other hand, saying goodbye to my home, my family, and my friends was very difficult.
The flight went smoothly and even the transfer in Dubai went well, although I briefly despaired there. But after speaking to a few staff members, that was also resolved. In Bangkok, I met my sister as planned, and we made our way to our first hostel.
Our impression of the city was quite good, although I was surprised how much you could see the difference between the rich and the poor and how big that difference is. Nevertheless, I can understand why people are fascinated by this city, because it has an extraordinary charm.
In the evening of the next day, we took the night train to Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is an old city in the north of Thailand, where you can get an insight into foreign culture. A visit to Chiang Mai is definitely worthwhile because of the many special temples and night markets.
We will be in Chiang Mai until September 11th, 2018, before taking the night bus back to Bangkok.
On September 13th, 2018, we will continue to Indonesia and spend another two weeks on the islands. Then Chiara will go home and I will continue to New Zealand.
