Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, also known as Windy Welly because it's always windy. Wellington is often described as the most underrated capital, but unfortunately I can't entirely agree with that. But what I can't deny is that it is the southernmost capital in the world. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky with the weather here and there were 2 1/2 days of bad weather out of 4 days. Maybe it's also because I couldn't make friends with Wellington. But well, at least I looked around the museums. These actually surprised me a lot. They're all free, but they're also really interesting. So I was able to spend 2 days in a relaxed way and I didn't mind a quieter afternoon in the hostel. But as soon as the weather got nicer again, on my last day here, my hiking boots were ready and we set off to a somewhat remote beach and to the Red Rocks. In the best case scenario you can watch seals there, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky, but I was able to watch waves that were meters high. It always fascinates me! Instead of watching the seals, I watched surfers. Really fascinating with such high waves. We ended the last evening with a sunset over the Wellington skyline at Mount Victoria. Sunset is definitely my favorite time of the day. All in all, I have to say the city itself didn't convince me, but rather disappointed me a bit. But the surroundings and the beaches are quite something. After 3 weeks on the North Island, I'm now very excited about the South Island and I'm really looking forward to it! ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ
