Day 8: Kobe

Გამოქვეყნდა: 11.08.2016

We took a train from Osaka and arrived in Kobe in half an hour. Upon our arrival, we noticed how green and spacious this city was compared to Osaka. However, this was because Kobe was almost completely destroyed by a severe earthquake 21 years ago and had to be completely rebuilt. After a view from the City Hall tower, we visited the earthquake memorial, where the 10,000 victims of the disaster were remembered. As a memorial, several thousand origami cranes were folded and placed there. Afterwards, we strolled to the port, where a small section was not rebuilt to commemorate the earthquake. We had our lunch break in Chinatown, where we had the opportunity to try the famous Kobe beef, even though it was only a small piece within our budget.

Kobe is also known for its many sake breweries. That's why we went to the Nada district to visit a sake brewery, where we were able to try the sake after a tour.

In the evening in Osaka, we all went to eat a local specialty together: Okonomiyaki. A kind of pancake filled with seafood.
