Rhineland Palatinate Castle Eltz

Karma rules here!

I haven't been here for 30 years, a lot has changed here! Last time, I could still look down from above at Schrottie's pink sunroof, today you have to park far away from the castle!

So today we were at and in Castle Eltz, which is now very touristy. A guided tour with parking plus shuttle bus costs quite a bit, but in Great Britain it was the same.

We were out early, after a little hike we arrived at the castle. There would have been a hiking parking lot here, but we were already on our way, besides, dogs are not allowed in the tour! 😞

We were in a fun group with a couple of nice kids and two men who particularly annoyed me a bit. Type A doesn't listen during the tour and then asks stupid questions that were already answered in the explanation beforehand.

Type B is a teacher who can't shake off his tendency to be a know-it-all even during the tour and causes extreme eye-rolling with me. I quickly learned that I shouldn't do that, I was still in my teaching internship. Others can't turn it off and then become unintentionally embarrassing.

The castle is beautiful, wonderfully situated, and thanks to smart politics, it has never been destroyed.

We were also in the castle tavern, such an expensive buttered pretzel can only be justified by the step of squirting butter into the dough, that was lavish! 😜
