I was lucky to take a short weekend trip to Piha on my first weekend here.
I waited with my packed backpack for Martin to pick me up in his self-built campervan in the city.
After a quick grocery shopping, we finally headed to Piha on the west coast of New Zealand, which is about an hour away.
Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side that day.
On the way, we first made a detour to Karekare to see the black sand beach.
On the winding road down to Piha, we could already enjoy the beautiful view of Lions Rock.

About a kilometer away, we hiked through a beautiful piece of rainforest, over logs, rocks, and streams to reach the Kitekite Falls... a really nice little hiking trail.
It was my first night in the campervan... it took some getting used to.
More or less fresh the next morning, we were greeted by bright sunshine.
We went back to Lions Rock, drove to the Karekare Falls, and took a detour to Anawhata Beach, where we admittedly climbed into a rock crevice to enjoy an amazing view.
