After a tearful goodbye, we set off on Saturday, May 27th at 09:55 AM. I still didn't fully realize that I would be away until September. After 1 hour and 25 minutes - I had expected a 2-hour flight time and was relieved when the announcement came on the plane - Papa and I landed in London.

From there, we continued with the rental car - a blue BMW 4 series Cabrio. After numerous roundabouts and some left-right orientation problems, we arrived in Oxford.

There we were met by Mia, the landlady, with her little daughter. Mia is super friendly and has a very nice and cozy house.

After dropping off our suitcases, we drove the route from the accommodation to the Mini factory about 10 times - so it should be fine on the first day of work :-)

Afterwards, we had burgers and pizza in Cowley Road in the city center and then went to Tesco to get some groceries. Since we had been on our feet for a while, we fell into our beds pretty tired.

Today is Sunday, and my first full day here is slowly coming to an end. Before Papa left in the morning, we had breakfast in the city center - by the way, the streets seem deserted on Sundays at 8 AM, but in the evening, the sound of clinking beer glasses in the pubs is loud and clear.

Other than that, I got myself a bike today and moved into my room for the next few months - it's really tiny, but cozy!!

Since tomorrow is Spring Bank Holiday, a public holiday, I want to explore the city a bit and gather some impressions. :-)

Cheerio, Caro
