Why, why, why?

About 18 months ago, we were on summer vacation in Zrcé (Croatia), a great time, sun and beach, great parties and lots of new acquaintances. On the 1000 km drive home, we realized that something wasn't right, everyone was talking about their lives - how they explore the world and enjoy freedom. And us? We go to work, we're apprentices, we take further education - for what? Where do we actually want to go? We've never really thought about that. After secondary school, we immediately entered the working life and embraced the German system. That's when we asked ourselves - why don't we simply go away too? Just get out and explore the world, experience different cultures, etc.

After extensive research, we made up our minds - together we're going to the end of the world - to Australia!

But first, there are still important things to take care of! Our wedding was scheduled for March 3, 2016 - one of the most wonderful days of our lives - a day that couldn't have been more beautiful for us! After going from YOU + ME to officially becoming WE, we could start planning.

We did a lot of thinking and researching, what do we expect from the trip?

It's important for us to travel without organization, to not surrender to a system again, just do it ourselves, in Australia it shouldn't be nearly as bureaucratic as in Germany - so it should work out ;)

We also want to explore the Australian job market - Patrick wants to know what it's like in the workshops Down Under - there, craftsmanship is still appreciated and more recognized than a degree! And I don't really know what I want anyway - that's why I'm just going to see what happens and try it out - just try new things and sort out my career choices. What is of course also very important - discovering and experiencing Australia, for that we're going on a road trip through the huge country (21.5 times the size of Germany).

In addition, we have our gluten intolerance with us. For many, it's an obstacle - for us, it's an adventure - our celiac disease :)

We want to go into this topic in more detail, so stay tuned!
