23.01.2023 from Marlo to Angusvale in Mitchell River NP

We are leaving early, we are annoyed that we didn't make it to the mouth of the Snowy River into the Tasman Sea yesterday, but even on our hike today we have no luck. However, we reach the sea, first down 60 steps, then along a boardwalk to the "bodden" and further along a plastic boardwalk to the sea. We see how the tide quickly raises the water in the bodden, little fish seeking shelter in the shallow bodden water, traces of crawling animals, and the sea. A nice little hike, there are probably still 2 km along the beach to the mouth. But we continue driving, today we go to Mitchell River NP for camping. There is no direct road along the sea, the "highway" leads about 20 km inland along the coast. Side roads lead to the seaside resorts.

In the hinterland there are large agricultural areas, where sowing and irrigation are taking place. We can also recognize cabbage and corn plants. The national park is in the mountains, we drive on a gravel road through dense eucalyptus forest. But the camping area is very spacious, at first we only see one camper but by evening at least 4 more camper vans join.

We go to the Mitchell River, I splash around in the shallow water and then we prepare our dinner. Today we have blue mussels, they are as big as the New Zealand green-lipped mussels and taste excellent. At the moment the mussels arrive at the table, hundreds of flies join us at the table. They have to be vigorously fended off. Finally, we are visited by a goanna or iguana, maybe he has also smelled the mussels?
