We wake up just in time for sunrise - how beautiful!!!
After another round of deep sleep, I have to go into the water first. The waves are high and it takes me 3 attempts to finally dare to swim! After that, we have breakfast on the terrace and enjoy the view. Unfortunately, we didn't see any penguins in the garden. According to the description, they are supposed to sleep there at night. We say goodbye with a heavy heart to this very special place.
On our way to Dunedin, we stop at the Cathedral Caves. From the parking lot, we walk through the rainforest for about half an hour, which actually extends to the sea here. The caves resemble a cathedral, they are so huge. These shells are attached to the rock. When lifted slightly, they squirt!!!
Our second stop is at the oldest lighthouse in New Zealand and it looks like Brittany - also the end of the world! And here, there are also seals and especially many seal babies. A seal nursery is currently in the swimming pool. It's really swarming here!
After that, we quickly drive towards Dunedin, past Kakapoint! (winking for our grandsons!!!)
And then we arrive at the Majestic Mansions and move into a 2 1/2 room apartment. Very very nice again. And we have a view of the beach, waves (huge!) and surfers!!! It's like watching TV, only more beautiful :-)
After a walk on the beach (many people, many surfers) and through empty streets (you don't walk here, you drive!) we do our first shopping at Pack'n save and Reinhard goes to get the car!
Dinner at sunset with beer and red wine!
