The first days in Sydney

Გამოქვეყნდა: 13.11.2016

After a 13-hour flight, which was also delayed by 2 hours, we finally arrived in Sydney at 8 am local time.

From our bus transfer, which resembled more of a Pakistani taxi ride, we went to the Base Hostel in the center of Sydney.

There, surprise surprise, the same game as in Dubai. Unfortunately, we could only check in at 2 pm. We spent this time at Subway, taking full advantage of the drink refill option.

After we finally checked in, the next shock came. Not only could the three of us not be in the same room, but we were also spread out on different floors.

So I spent my first hours in an 8-bed room with 9 girls, two of whom were sleeping on the floor.

After adjusting, we went to the marina, exhausted, to somehow fight against the jet lag. There we watched a street art show, although I fought more against falling asleep.

Afterwards, we were properly greeted by the Australians, with the weekly Darling Harbour fireworks.

After that, we were mentally ready for the loony bin due to jet lag, and tried to sleep, which was quite difficult because of the drunken idiots shouting in the hallway.

In the morning, surprise surprise, we were already wide awake at 5 am. While Etienne said goodbye to the land of dreams again, Niklas and I went to get something for breakfast as soon as the first supermarket opened. After some searching for an affordable option, we each decided on an 8-piece box of croissants for $4, which by the way will be our breakfast every morning this week in Sydney.

Then we took the subway to Bondi Beach to refresh our sunburns.

After realizing that we couldn't stay there any longer without increasing our risk of skin cancer to the likelihood of the HSV's relegation, we went back to the hostel.

Determined to prepare our lunch economically, we sat down at the nearest Subway.

When we arrived back at the hostel, Niklas noticed that all of his roommates had moved out overnight. So we went to the reception and demanded to be moved, which should have been possible on the first evening, as there were already 2 free beds there. Maybe yesterday's receptionist just didn't want to put 3 friends in one room, as such groups often lead to trouble (greetings to the idiots).

Whatever the case, the 3 Musketeers were finally reunited. However, the jet lag slowly sucked the life energy out of us, so I didn't even notice that Niklas and Etienne were shopping for our dinner while I was snoozing.

In the evening, we had homemade delicious rice, with rice and a little more rice.

Afterwards, it was off to bed again, hopefully to conquer the remaining jet lag.

In the next few days, things will finally get exciting and maybe not entirely suitable for all ages, so I'll have to come up with some creative descriptions for the next article.

Ciao, Ciao
