Turbulent days or weeks are behind us and we have finally started our new, exciting route into the Atlantic. During the last part of the fifth Baltic Sea tour, we spent a lot of time preparing for upcoming ports and excursions, clarifying questions that arose, creating new flyers, etc. As you can see, there was a lot to do and at times, nerves were on edge.. For me, it was one of the toughest times during my entire time on board, but evening rounds with my colleagues in the crew bar or on our two outdoor decks always helped me distract. I also drew strength from phone calls with my parents and could focus on what is important to me. And that definitely includes the countless indescribable impressions during my shore excursions and the carefree time on board. This also helps me keep a clear head in difficult situations. However, I currently feel the joy of the upcoming time at home and also how my energy weakens after a certain period of time. Unfortunately, I also notice time and again that the acquaintances on board are sometimes only very superficial, which sometimes takes away my courage.. How much I long to share moments with loved ones, have hour-long conversations in the car or on the balconies of Leipzig, and simply interact with the people around me. All of that is not really possible here and the issue of trust is limited to a few colleagues.. That doesn't make it any easier.
Therefore, it is very important for me at the moment that I can take time for myself in my free time and that I will have a few great experiences in Scotland, Iceland, and Greenland during my last 6 weeks. The first beautiful excursions led me along impressive panoramas, landscapes, and small towns that convinced me with their tranquil charm. These included, for example, exploring the Scottish coastal town of Invergordon independently, visiting Urquhart Castle located on Loch Ness, the first hike along spectacular waterfalls in Seydisfjørdur, or staying in the hot springs of the Myvatn Nature Baths near the Icelandic city of Akureyri. Incredibly inspiring moments that bring a smile to my face again and again! It's best to see for yourselves ;-)
I miss you and I'm looking forward to being back home! Only 5 weeks and 2 days until I'm with you again!
