My nose is running (almost) better than my life

Diterbitake: 16.10.2022

As the title suggests, I'm very sick. It all started innocently enough with a sore throat on Wednesday. Now I don't have a sore throat anymore, but my sinuses are blocked and my nose is running. That's why I'm staying home tomorrow to rest. I hope to be back in good health on Tuesday and able to go back to work. From Wednesday to today, a friend of my roommate's was here. We had a little game night and played Sorry!. I won :)! Otherwise, my days haven't been very eventful. I've mostly been recovering at home. But of course, I've visited the beach from time to time. It's still up to 25 degrees here. Last night, I watched the sunset, which was truly beautiful. The beauty never really comes across in pictures. My roommate played soccer for the first time this weekend. I was really happy for her. She played from the beginning and her team was clearly superior. They won 4-0. What gave me a lot of strength this week were the phone calls with family and friends. I finally managed to talk to my two best friends. Sometimes it's difficult to stay in touch when you're scattered all over the world. It felt really good to talk to them for a long time and hear about their lives abroad. We laughed a lot. I'll see both of them again in December. My father suggested we do something "cultural" for a change, instead of just hanging out at the beach or shopping. I quickly ruled out a museum visit because I still didn't feel quite well. Maybe I'll go to one next week because many museums in Barcelona are free on Sundays. So I took out the travel guide and studied it attentively. The neighborhood around the "Arc de Triomf" caught my eye, as there are many art galleries and buildings in medieval style. As always, I wanted to take the train to Barcelona, but there were unforeseen complications. The ticket scanner swallowed my ticket. So I was already on the platform, but unfortunately without a ticket. You also need it when you want to leave the train station. So I had to get a new one as soon as possible. Unfortunately, nothing went quickly at all, because the key to open the ticket scanner was missing. I had to wait 40 minutes before the ticket scanner was opened and my ticket was fished out all torn up. Then I had to wait another ten minutes in line to exchange my ticket because it was really damaged. Luckily, the train arrived just as I was standing on the platform. When I arrived at the Arc de Triomf, I took a lot of pictures with my disposable camera. The travel guide recommended a street to visit, which I found with Google Maps. There was some kind of e-mobility fair at the Arc de Triomf. There were many electric cars and electric motorcycles. Behind the Arc de Triomf is a big, beautiful park. I had to walk through parts of it. Just before reaching my destination, I was distracted by a beautiful street. The light, the restaurants, and the buildings gave the street a very nice atmosphere. There was also a crafts market with a few small stands. I started talking to a very nice woman there. She's from Colombia, just like her husband. We talked for about 20 minutes, and even in Spanish. I bought a self-painted bookmark with a cat on it. That's her cat Phönix. She and her husband showed me pictures and videos of Phönix, really cute. I even sent her the link to my blog. She thought it was very cool that I write and make some of my own jewelry. She recommended some museums in Barcelona because she's also very interested in art. The conversation was really nice and I was a little proud of myself because my Spanish has definitely improved. After that, I just strolled through the narrow streets and let myself be carried away. The streets here are sometimes very, very narrow, as a desperate driver found out who got stuck. Luckily, some passers-by helped and after 5 minutes he managed to get out again. In conclusion, I bought a cappuccino and two pastries and sat down in the park. I ate half of each pastry, the rest I'll eat tomorrow. The way home felt like an eternity because I was really tired. At home, I cooked something for myself and now I'm really looking forward to going to sleep.
