With a small plane we flew from Medellin to Pereira in just 30 minutes. ๐ฉ๏ธ There, I could really feel the movement of the plane throughout the flight. ๐๐ But otherwise, it was interesting to fly with such a small machine. ๐๐ป๐ From Pereira, we then took a bus to Salento. ๐ Our backpacks were put next to the driver and the bus was once again crowded. ๐๐ After a few turns, suddenly there was smoke coming from the front of the bus... ๐ซ๏ธ๐ฑ The door was closed, so we tried to open the windows a little bit at least, so we wouldn't get smoke poisoning. ๐๐ท The driver was acting a bit strange, though, and was bending down near the pedals. ๐ณ๐ฑ Oh oh... hopefully he's alright and it's nothing serious... ๐ณ When the smoke finally disappeared, we found out that he had forgotten to release the handbrake. ๐๐ After a long time, he managed to release it somehow, and finally we arrived in Salento. ๐๐ป๐
We actually put on our hiking shoes and went to the "Valle del Cocora". โฐ๏ธ๐ The first part felt almost like being in the Alps, but then we continued through the cloud forest to a hummingbird farm. โฐ๏ธ๐ We had a little snack there and watched the hummingbirds quickly devouring the nectar. ๐ But what was really amazing was the beautiful green fields with tall palm trees and cows grazing on the hillside in front of us. โฐ๏ธ๐ด๐ฎ๐ด๐ We were able to enjoy this special panorama. ๐๐
On the next day, we visited a organic coffee farm. ๐ฑ
Since no one else besides us joined the Spanish tour, we had a private tour with the farmer. ๐จ๐ฝโ๐พ๐๐ป๐ He showed us his entire farm and explained every step from planting to the coffee in the cup. ๐ฑโ๏ธ๐๐ป๐
Then we were allowed to separate the dried coffee beans from the husks with a sieve in front of the house, roast them in their aluminum pans, grind them, and of course, drink them. โ๏ธ๐ Colombian coffee is really something special. โค๏ธ Even Pรคdu had some โ๏ธ. ๐๐ป๐
The farmer also showed us what else they grow on the farm. ๐ฟ From bamboo and various herbs to blackberries, avocado trees, bananas, limes, passion fruit, and pineapple that we were allowed to pick and eat. ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ป๐ It was one of the best fruits we've ever had. ๐๐
