Hello everyone!
We made it and now we're in the warmth!
This morning the alarm clock rang at 8 o'clock and we started slowly packing our stuff. Since we were flying to a warm place and didn't need much, we only booked one checked baggage. What we didn't consider was that we wanted to bring our diving gear.... While packing, we realized that we wouldn't get anywhere with just one bag! Our diving equipment alone took up 75% of the bag and that's without packing everything... We filled up the backpack with whatever could fit, but had to leave some things behind. The backpack was really heavy and the carry-on luggage was limited to 8 kilos. Well, our carry-on luggage has never been checked on any trip, so it should be fine.
At 12:30 pm, we arrived at the airport parking lot as planned. We parked our camper, locked everything up, and grabbed our luggage. From the parking lot, there was a bus that offered a free transfer to the airport. Everything went smoothly here too!
When we arrived at the check-in counter, we waited for about an hour until it was our turn. But there, EVERY piece of baggage had to be weighed! Oh great... We put the backpack on the scale aaaand: 13 kilos! We unpacked the logbook at the counter, squeezed it into my handbag, and tied a pair of pants and a sweater around our waists. Done! Exactly 8 kilos :).
Let's continue: through security, to the gate, and onto the plane.
"Boarding complete" and the doors are closed. Then the announcement: "Due to bad weather, we are not able to take off at the moment. We are waiting for clearance and expect a wait time of about 1 hour." Great..... After 45 minutes of waiting, we actually took off! Yeyyyyyy!!!!
In the air, we realized that only those who had pre-booked food got something to eat. Since we hadn't eaten anything yet and wouldn't land until 11:30 pm, this fact posed a slight problem.... But we were lucky! The crew had packed too much and for 8 pounds per person, we could buy a meal :). Awesome! After 4.5 hours of flight time, we landed and from there, everything went very quickly. Through passport control in a flash, our luggage was among the first ones to come out, and the transfer to the hotel started after just ten minutes. Only twenty minutes drive! Our hotel was the first one to be dropped off at :D.
Our room is really cute, but above all, we love the temperatures here! You can even sit outside in a T-shirt at night! Really great!
Around 3 o'clock, I went to bed - at least for me.... Kevin was chasing mosquitoes that apparently come out of the ventilation until 6 o'clock in the morning. :))
So, see you tomorrow ;)
