Kura-kura....

Diterbitake: 31.01.2019

Todos Santos also has a nice old town, but it also offers a turtle breeding station outside the city. A non-profit association digs up the freshly laid nests and "manages" them in a kind of greenhouse on the beach. The nests are hatched and the little ones are carefully released. This dramatically increases the number of animals that actually make it into the water, as neither birds nor other nest robbers can be active.

Although no babies had hatched in the afternoon, we are lucky and before sunset about 40 small turtles see the light of day. According to the laws of nature, they have to go into the water immediately, so they are brought to the beach in several bowls filled with sand.

Happy surprise. The group leader hands Mica one of the bowls. Behind a line drawn in the sand, everyone lines up and releases the tiny ones into the breakers. Unbelievable.... barely hatched and already in waves that no one swims in because they have such great force.

With the evening atmosphere, the beach and the waves, this is an incredibly emotional experience.
