Once Königstuhl and back

Diterbitake: 30.07.2022

Another 9Euro Ticket Episode...

Homo heidelbergensis 2.0 on the way to Heidelberg, whose name probably comes neither from the heathens nor from the blueberries, but from the heath.

Great route from Langen directly to Heidelberg Hbf without changing trains in a comfortable train with working air conditioning, power outlets and WiFi. Yeay!

After a little over an hour we arrived, then looked for the right means of transport to get to the old town and opted for a bus that stops directly at Kornmarkt/Bergbahnen. We arrived 20 minutes later and were hungry. But what to do at 11 o'clock? Actually too late for breakfast, but also too early for lunch.

A restaurant offered both still/already. The daily special convinced us and so we settled there first.

Then we checked out the Bergbahnen to see how much the ride to the castle and possibly higher up would cost. The panoramic ticket included all rides and cost 14 euros per person and if Mama had her SBA with her, it would have cost only 7 euros for her. Alright.... So off to the modern funicular to the castle. There we enjoyed the view and visited the apothecary museum. We will be able to treat some ailments ourselves in the future, with belladonna and all...

From there we went to the Molkenkur - btw no idea why it's called that - and we took the historic funicular. 22% incline! Madness!

Once we arrived at Königstuhl, we enjoyed the view again and looked for a feasible path for disabled people, like we are. We promptly found one, after I stubbornly refused to go to the falconry (I wonder why 😉). A children's adventure path, 2km long, caught our attention. Very nice, including a foot massage from walking barefoot

Then finally back down with the funiculars, to take the journey home by bus and train. We should have paid attention to the time. The train was completely full. But as the saying goes, luck is with the fools. And so we stood right there in the aisle, where two seats became available relatively quickly...

All in all, a very nice day!
