Today's program started very early again. We booked a day trip to the Mekong. First we went 2 hours south with 8 other tourists to the Mekong Delta, which is as big as Switzerland. When we finally arrived we took the boat to our first stop. There we saw a typical brick factory where everything is still made by hand. Then we went to a small chocolate factory. Right across the street was the coconut candy factory. Both of them explained to us how the delicacies are made, which we were then allowed to try. For the brave ones there was also snake wine to try. It was a strange sight to see pickled cobras or up to 10 snakes in a bottle. Of course Simon and I didn't try it. Then we cycle between many coconut trees to the next stop. Here we were able to watch locals making bamboo mats. We continued to a farm where papayas, mangoes and lemons grow. A typical South Vietnamese dish was prepared for us there. Simon and I were very happy with our vegetarian alternative. After lunch we rowed through the narrow channels of the Makong in a boat similar to Weidling. This was a very idyllic moment. All you could hear were the animals and you were protected in the canopy of coconut palms. Then we continued on the big ship back to the bus.
