Tag 16 - Adelaide

The drive from Port Germein to Adelaide was quite uneventful. However, on the way to Adelaide, we were able to discover our very own Pink Lake in Burnsfield... or Pink Pond. Regardless, the pink shimmer on the small salt lake was really beautiful to see. Unfortunately, it's not quite as visible in the photo.

Upon arriving in Adelaide, the first order of business was finding some food. Not an easy task in a big city, especially when you get lost in the city center with a 2.70m tall camper and only 2.05m tall parking garages and underground garages.

Eventually, on the outskirts of the city, we found a grocery store and an amazing sushi to go place where we stuffed ourselves full.

After shopping, we headed towards the harbor to the tourist information office to book a tour to Kangaroo Island for the next day. The nice lady behind the counter helped us in every way she could, even calling a company for us to book the tour, even though she only needed to give us an address. She even handed us the phone to clarify the final questions and personal information with the company on the other end of the line, using hands, feet, and very understandable English to explain what the lady on the other end wanted from us. Thank God I only had to hand her the phone once.

Many thanks to the nice and dedicated lady at the tourist center!!

After that, we let the day come to a quiet end. We found a (this time really expensive😅) campsite with beach access and took a little bike ride along the beach promenade. Beautiful beach, beautiful promenade, but very crowded with tourists.

We ended the day at the beach, where we could observe dolphins and shortly afterwards watch a beautiful thunderstorm over the sea. ☈☇☇

About the campsite: Very nice place, but more suited for family vacations. Very clean, very modern, top-notch facilities. There's a lot to offer, especially for children. Plus, the location is very close to the sea. Unfortunately, the airport is also not far away, so you occasionally hear planes taking off and landing. And at $60/night (pitch with electricity), it's not exactly cheap.
