So, a real tourist day in Rome!
I tried to start very Italian: Espresso and Cornetto right at the counter. That worked out pretty well. Then we stumbled into a church; with over 900 churches in Rome, I currently don't even know its name. But it was at least as magnificent as St. Peter's Basilica! And Italian kitschy-beautiful 🥰
Since it was supposed to rain quite a bit, we opted for the bus, like almost every other tourist. So, this is not a recommendable way to get around in Rome! It's slower than walking and you see less. Additionally, the audio guide revealed considerably less information than an average Instagram story...
Whatever! We got an overview of the city, especially a dry one 🤭
We walked past a few hotspots. Coins ended up in the Trevi Fountain, or just before it... 😁 The Pantheon was admired, and much more. It's simply crazy; no matter where you look, you discover something worth seeing/ancient/beautiful. An exciting city!
To wrap it up, we attended the 'drunken cooking class' and made Tagliatelle Carbonara and Cacio e Pepe. Very delicious and highly recommendable! We received the recipe and can cook it again 😉 I would say we did really well, maybe it was just that Aperol, Campari, and Limoncello Spritz were so good that the food tasted even better 🤣
Either way: a successful evening! Thanks again for the idea and sponsorship to Dad!
After just pasta, even if homemade, dessert had to come. Even in pouring rain, we headed to the gelateria just about 100m from our hotel. Buono!
