The Smith Farm near the Marlborough Sounds

Diterbitake: 09.03.2017

The weather is good again. We are woken up by the sun. It's still pretty cold, but sun is sun. After breakfast and a little session in the outdoor gym of Havelock, we drive the few kilometers to our next campsite. Once again, the Campermate app has served us well. Since the "Smith Farm" is said to be extremely popular, we made a reservation by email last night.

Why the small farm is so popular becomes clear to us quickly. We are welcomed and shown around by the nice and very committed owner. In addition to the chickens, which have already greeted us with curious looks on the approach, you can find goats, cows and sheep here. So that we can get to know the animal roommates directly, we are handed a portion of food. Like in a petting zoo. But we are not forgotten either and receive warm banana muffins as a welcome. Delicious!

The weather is sunny, but it's stormy. That's why we decide to cook our dinner in the campsite kitchen. Not quite as good as the fish n chips, but still good. We decide to postpone the recommendation of the house: a half-hour walk to a nearby waterfall where glowworms are said to be visible in the dark, due to the weather on the next day.
