On our journey south, we stopped in Montezuma with three other backpackers. A village known for its yoga courses and modern Rastafarians, as well as the relaxed atmosphere. The locals lovingly call it Montefuma.
After a delicious breakfast, we explored the tiny but incredibly inviting place before heading to a waterfall. Travelers from our hostel in Santa Teresa had raved about it the night before, so we wanted to see it for ourselves.
At the entrance to the park, an old man warned us that it wouldn't be easy to reach the waterfall after the rain that had fallen the previous night... he wasn't exaggerating, and we struggled through mud and rivers for much longer than expected, until we finally reached our destination. As a reward, we had a beautiful and refreshing cool waterfall all to ourselves! :-)
