Greetings - Sri Lanka

The excitement is building, will everything work out - will the flight be on time? Will I catch the connecting flight in Abu Dhabi? All the items on the inner to-do list have been checked off - vaccination, visa, printed boarding passes, passport ready, carry-on luggage organized so that everything can be found easily. Off to the airport we go - a 14-hour flight. Berlin - Abu Dhabi - Colombo.

Arrival in Colombo early in the morning, everything has gone smoothly so far, a little delay in Abu Dhabi, but nothing major. But then the first shock - my suitcase is not there! And this in a situation - where all I want to do is shower and sleep. But there is no choice, I have to deal with it somehow. I filed a complaint, the staff promised me that my luggage would be back with me in the evening - little did I know at this point that this story would drag on for much longer.

I saw you already waiting in the reception area, happy, with tears in my eyes I ran to you and fell into your arms. You had already arrived a week earlier, we had one more week ahead of us before you would return home and I would be at home in Sri Lanka for 6 months.

After the air-conditioned arrival halls of the airport, the outside area felt like a sauna - you start sweating immediately, the high temperatures and the high humidity also affected me. Right from the start, overwhelmed by so many impressions and there are still more to come...
