From Santiago we flew south to Chile, finally Patagonia. Arriving in Punta Arenas, our first stay there mainly consisted of planning for Puerto Williams (see: https://vakantio.de/mundmontour/puerto-williams-auf-ins-abenteuerland) and having lunch at the good but affordable restaurant "La Luna." But there was also time to visit the small and very cozy Naval Museum, where you can learn a lot about the first settlers and the rescue of Ernest Shackleton from the ice. He and his men were trapped in the Antarctica for 635 days and were rescued by the Chilean Navy after the failure of their Antarctica expedition. After returning from Puerto Williams, we used the time in Punta Arenas to replace equipment failures in the duty-free zone, visit ship replicas, and visit the 69,000 penguins on Isla Magdalena. A day hike took us to the Isidro Lighthouse and a long walk to the shipwrecks in front of the harbor, near the city. So we spent a few cozy days in Punta Arenas and have now arrived in Puerto Natales in pouring rain, from where we will make our way to the famous Torres del Paine.
See you soon, Max and Marius
