Driving over the impressive Ponte de 25 Abril (Day of the Carnation Revolution, 1974, the radio station "Radioclub Portugues" played the song "Grandola, Vila Morena" at midnight, it was the starting signal for the putschists and became the anthem of the Carnation Revolution, Della would have plus a story in our luggage, if you're interested) we left Lisbon, which was rainy that day, behind us. After a good two hours we reached the town of Evora in the Alentejo. It offers free parking space for motorhomes, which is good after the expensive Lisbon nights. It seemed relatively safe to us and so we walked into the small walled town.
It was actually supposed to be a rest day, but we still walked thousands of steps because there was a lot to discover. So many steps made us hungry, so we looked for a restaurant with an open kitchen. So far we haven't been very lucky with our choice of restaurant, but that should change today. We followed the waiter's recommendation and had two really good Alentejo dishes.
