A new day in Bali. We started this one at 9 o'clock sharp. After a hearty breakfast, we headed to the beach. There, we rented two lounge chairs and an umbrella so that we could fully enjoy the sun. The sea was very rough today, which made the waves even bigger than yesterday. It was incredible to watch these monster waves. It almost looked like a huge wall of clouds on the horizon. One wave even reached our chairs and we had to quickly move back. However, during low tide, the water calmed down a bit and we were still able to swim.
For lunch, we sat down at a small beach restaurant and enjoyed delicious fish & chips. They taste so good here because the fish is always freshly caught.
By 4 p.m., we were back at the hotel, enjoying a game of Skipbo and a cold Bingtang Radler beer by the pool. We also arranged for a driver for tomorrow, whom we booked on the recommendation of our cousin. His name is Janni, he is Balinese, and he speaks German. He will pick us up at 11 a.m. and the plan is to visit a water temple, rice terraces, and a waterfall. We also plan to adopt a turtle and release it into the sea afterwards. I'm excited to see what else we will experience and I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!
After a swim in the pool, a game of Skipbo, and writing postcards, we went up to our hotel room. Unfortunately, my cousin isn't feeling well. He's struggling with the heat and has a slight sunburn, so I went alone to get some food for us. On the way, I also stopped at a laundry service because our clothes are running out and since we're going to a small island next, we'd rather have them washed in advance.
I feel very free and safe being alone, a feeling that makes me happy. Especially because I can communicate very well on my own. There were no problems, neither at the laundry service nor when ordering food. I'm really proud of myself for being able to communicate so well in English, even making jokes with the vendors, and everything worked out as it should. With a delicious pizza, I quickly returned to the hotel. We ended the evening watching a good series and enjoying the food, resting well so that we're ready for tomorrow.
