After a hearty breakfast, we head back into the city and walk through the typical squares. One of them even made Hollywood history, as the 'bank scenes' from Forrest Gump were filmed here at Chippewa Square (the bank is now located in a museum).
We walk back to Forsyth Park. But once again, the heat is getting to us.
We buy some refreshing smoothies and relax in the park, under the shade of the trees. Just like the locals do.
We make a quick stop at the hotel to cool down and change clothes. We are completely drenched in sweat and want to take another look at the Historic District and admire the old Southern houses.
Definitely worth seeing! But once again, we are completely drenched in sweat. 🥵
So we head back to the river and find a nice restaurant by the water. This time, we go to Dockside. 😋
And with that, our last evening in beautiful Savannah comes to an end. It's a completely different America than the one of skyscrapers in New York.
Tomorrow, we'll spend the morning/afternoon here and then head to Denver.
Hopefully the California Zephyr will be on time.
Stay tuned!
