G'day Mates
These past few days, we had to organize a lot, so I didn't have time to write.
We needed a phone connection in Australia, and the nice Anne, a trainee at Telstra (the provider with 99.9% network coverage in Oz), advised us patiently and always friendly. Family card or prepaid? Monthly or for a year? Not so easy ...
Then we went to the tourist information office where Rebbeka also helped us a lot!
We did it!!!
We did it. Günter's dream. We're starting tomorrow.
I'm already super excited because we don't really know
what's coming our way.
(And I have back and knee pain, so it'll be interesting ...)
But everywhere they say:
One of the most beautiful tours and regions in Australia,
still truly untouched wilderness! ...
OK, so, Rebekka helped us organize a 4WD Landcruiser with a rooftop tent for 12 days!
With that, we want?! to drive the Gibb River Road:
A 4WD track of 660 km through the outback. Dusty dirt roads, potholes, crossing rivers (with salties (saltwater crocs) in them!),
sleeping in the rooftop tent, tomorrow we'll get the introduction to 4WD driving and setting up the rooftop tent ...
And of course, there were and still are a few things to organize for this trip.
Other than that, we went swimming in a lagoon in Darwin and on the way back, we strolled through the Darwin Festival with live music, street food, and relaxing in the green area,
