Today is Saturday, so after breakfast, let's go to one of the WOF (Warrant of Fitness) Centers in Christchurch. There are 8 cars ahead of me, and I'll be next in an hour. The inspector takes over the bus and says that he has never had such a car before (obviously, in NZ), and that Mercedes builds good cars (maybe, just not this one). The car is inspected thoroughly and diligently, and it is even noticed that the side indicators now illuminate white.
I fail the inspection and have to buy new indicator bulbs and fix the rust spots on the sill and strut mounting. Unlike in Germany, the car cannot be driven here anymore, only direct drive back home and trips to the workshop and inspection site are allowed. So once again, I am stuck, at least for a few days, and in the worst case, the bus is irreparable and will be scrapped. After I return to the house, Duncan suggests accompanying me to a suitable workshop on Monday, then we'll see from there.
We trim the hedge by the barn together, but it's just too hot for anything more... In the evening, Duncan prepares a great dinner with vegetables from the garden and steaks from the neighbor, and we chat a bit...
