Viva Wyndham Maya Beach Resort - Mexico

Diterbitake: 18.05.2018

The first night in Mexico went by quickly as we were already wide awake at 4 am. Jet lag, greetings!

All good things come in twos

Unfortunately, our first task was to request a room change as we were right across from the air conditioning of the neighboring hotel. Normally, I'm not one to complain about hotels, but the noise from the unit during the night was really unbearable and I didn't want to endure it for two weeks. We were able to get a new room without any problems, but unfortunately, we weren't any better off. This one had a connecting door to the next room, through which we could hear pretty much everything our neighbors were doing. Additionally, the room faced the pool side, which meant non-stop noise from the entertainment until late at night. We didn't feel like changing rooms again.

Exploring

So, it was time to explore the hotel a bit. During our exploration, we encountered all sorts of critters like agoutis and coatis. The property was beautifully landscaped and very clean. The pathways were mostly covered, so even in the rain (which we hardly had), we didn't get wet and could walk in the shade when it was sunny. We also really liked the pool area in front of the beach.

Dining

Of course, the food was of great importance ;) And we were pretty satisfied with it. As befits an all-inclusive resort, you could get something to eat around the clock. Either at the buffet restaurant, the beach snack bar, or one of the many a la carte restaurants, for which you had to make a reservation in advance. But it's definitely worth it, the food there was top-notch! Generally, the food was really good, and there was also plenty of selection of Mexican dishes.

Activities

To make sure boredom was never an issue, the hotel offered various leisure activities. From Spanish courses to catamaran rides to dance classes, there was something for everyone. You could even try your hand at the trapeze if you felt like it. I participated in one of the Spanish courses, but I had already acquired some basic knowledge before the vacation, so there was nothing new for me.

We particularly enjoyed the stand where you could paint various clay figures or plates. I discovered a new passion here and worked diligently on it.

Towel animals

A nice surprise were also the towel animals that the housekeeping staff left behind every day.

So, our overall impression of the hotel was positive, even though I would describe it as a large resort where it's not exactly quiet. A bit more peace and quiet would have been desirable, but we already expected that. So, all in all, we were pretty satisfied for the money we paid.
