What do an Indian, a Chinese, and three German girls do together in L.A. late at night in a subway parking lot? That's right, they change a flat tire. But let's start from the beginning...
Hostel acquaintances are definitely beneficial when it comes to experiencing spontaneous adventures. Vanessa, whom we had previously met through a Facebook group for future CSUF students, invited us on a trip to L.A. with two guys from her hostel who had rented a car. Of course, we didn't let this opportunity to 'zoom to L.A. quickly' slip away.
Once we arrived there, us girls wandered around the Melrose Avenue while the guys went to the Universal Studios. The Melrose District is known for its many graffiti, inviting to an Instagram post. There are also many small individual shops and cafes there, so you can spend a few nice hours there.
As the crowning finale, we treated ourselves to a sub. The cheapest way to quickly get something edible in L.A. that also fills you up. (Not forgetting the cookies!) Satiated and slightly shivering, we waited at the designated meeting point at nine o'clock in the evening for the guys to start our journey home. We were really looking forward to our warm bed - but unfortunately, we had to wait a bit longer: Our driver unfortunately hit the curb when entering the Subway parking lot, which resulted in a flat front tire. - In defense of our driver, it must be said that the curbs in L.A. are outrageously high.
Long story short: We now know how to change a car tire.
