Today, as always, it started with feeding the calves and having breakfast. All the cabins had to be cleaned again, so I was busy all morning.
In the afternoon, Ingveldur took me and showed me where she wanted the horses to go. It was a meadow that will be used for building the next cabins in the future, but at the moment it is completely overgrown. The meadow is located at the other end of the farm and some fences have to be repositioned and the strings in between have to be tightened to create a sort of lane for the horses.
Then she drove me to the 'entrance' of the farm and opened the gate to the meadow where the cows usually stand, but were apparently moved yesterday. When I asked why all of this, I already saw it. Behind the mountain, on the road, numerous horses appeared. There was a car in front, followed by two or three riders, and then about forty horses. At the end there was another rider checking that all the horses were there. Apparently, they are friends of the family who are staying here tonight and moving on tomorrow.
For dinner, we had burgers.
Afterwards, I fed the calves and Ingveldur suggested that I should try to bring the horses back to their paddock by myself because they don't have water on the meadow where they should graze. I hesitated, but then I gave it a try on my own. I really checked every gate and every rope twice before letting the horses out. The two dogs were a great help because I didn't have bread or anything to lure them like Ingveldur did before. All in all, it worked really well. And it was even fun.
Afterwards, I got back on Demon and this time I brought my camera with me. I think I took some really good photos.
I'm starting to settle in here. I still don't feel at home yet, but it's definitely better than in the beginning. I feel safer and more relaxed.
See you later
