After two of our fellow travelers were diagnosed with dengue fever the day before, I also woke up with its symptoms. The fever thermometer showed 37.6°C, which was not a reason for me to go to the hospital. So, Basti and I went to a viewpoint in Medellin. We took the metro, tram, and finally a cable car to reach our destination. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and we arrived in the rain, which didn't keep us at the viewpoint for long. We returned to the hostel where I measured my body temperature again. The display showed 39.1°C. That's when I decided to go to the hospital. There, blood was taken and I was given an infusion via a drip. Now, it was a waiting game. After a total of 8 hours at the hospital, I received the diagnosis that it was not a tropical disease, but just a normal infection. Relief washed over me. Now, all that was left was to pay and then return to the hostel.
