The sun is still low, it's cool. Cars rush past us. Sabrina stands on the side of the road with a sign in the air that says 'Victoria'. Our time on the farm is over. It was a good experience, but we're also somehow glad that it continues. We spent the last two weeks in Cowichan Bay. A large country house at the end of the road, a small forest to the right, an old barn to the left, and a large vegetable garden at the back. Our day mostly looked the same. 8 o'clock, get up and make breakfast. 9 o'clock, get dressed warmly, start work. We had the support of Svantje, another German traveler, during the first week. So the three of us went out to the cold field every morning and completed various tasks under the guidance of our hosts. Weeding, digging holes, chopping wood, etc. Resting after lunch and cooking together with our hosts around 6 o'clock. On rainy days, and there were quite a few of them, we watched movies together. On the other days, we took small trips and visited the sights of the island. Like the capital of British Columbia: Victoria. And also the many quaint fishing villages. We had a good time here. Having a regular daily routine felt really good after such a long time. Definitely home-cooked food. I will also never forget the view from the window in the morning when the sun is still really yellow and the deer stampede across the field behind the house through the fog. A harmonious place, a lot of work, and healthy food.
A car stops. We grab our backpacks and jump in. We will spend the next few days in beautiful Victoria, decorated for Halloween.
