On 23/01, we were picked up by a taxi at our hostel in Trat. Unfortunately, the taxi was already so full that we and our luggage couldn't fit in the back. Annika and I found a place behind the driver, but our luggage didn't. The nice Thai guy simply tied it to the back of the taxi. When I asked him if he was sure it would hold, he just laughed and gave me a thumbs upππΌ
On the way, we tried to trust his fastening skills. However, when a motorbike stopped next to us at the traffic lights and the driver was laughing and pointing to the back, we started to get nervous. We panicked when another taxi overtook us and the passengers inside tried to communicate something to us with hand movements. However, our taxi driver didn't react. And rightly so... when we arrived, our luggage was still there.
Then we continued to the island by ferry. From the ferry terminal, we were taken to the hostel by taxi. The ride there was quite bumpy. The roads on the island are very narrow, constantly going steeply uphill and downhill with very sharp turns. When we arrived safely at the hostel, we checked in, had something to eat, and then went to the first beach (Bang Bao Beach). For dinner, we had German food π π
