Next, we took the night bus to Bagan. I had chosen a good bus company - JJ Express - because the journey was supposed to take about 9-10 hours. I had a super comfortable seat with a blanket, there was a meal package with a drink and even a TV screen. We reached Bagan early in the morning at around 5 and started negotiating with the taxi drivers. Once we arrived at the hostel, I went to sleep first. Later, I rented a bicycle and rode along the road towards Old Bagan. Temples were everywhere, on the right and left. Like a journey back in time. It was incredibly hot and there were hardly any tourists around. The temples made of stone were decorated with patterns on the ceilings and walls, and inside there were various Buddhas. You had to take off your shoes in front of the temples, just like in the rest of Asia when visiting Buddhist temples. Due to the scorching heat, I turned back to the hostel after 2-3 hours. The next day, together with a Dutch girl from my hostel, I rented an e-scooter, as motorized scooters are prohibited for tourists here. This way, we were able to see a few more temples than I had seen the day before with the bicycle. But it was so incredibly hot again that we returned in the afternoon and just relaxed by the hostel pool. In the morning, we had Acrobatic Yoga at the hostel :-)
After three days of temple sightseeing in Bagan at 40°C, I took the local bus to Mandalay, a city that was about 4 hours away.
