Bali, Bangkok, and Home

Diterbitake: 21.11.2024

The last days of my journey are approaching, and I eagerly look towards the end because that means home. Friends, family, everything as usual. After so many new experiences and adventures, I'm slowly feeling a desire for home rising within me, and it’s nice that I have so many things at home that bring me joy.

I spent the last few days in Bali. I had been here last year, so it wasn’t new to me anymore, and I could quickly find my way around. For 2 days, I stayed in a super nice hostel before wrapping up this type of accommodation. For the last 6 nights, though, I booked private rooms, which are super affordable yet truly luxurious.

Of course, I wasn’t alone in Bali; Sarah met friends from France there, and I traveled with Caro for a few days.

Since this is the end of my trip, some 'organizational' things were on the agenda. Or rather, things I want to fully enjoy here before heading home. This means one last trip to the beach, one last massage, a visit to the beauty salon, buying souvenirs, and, of course, a lot of delicious, cheap food.

And thus, the days flew by. However, just before the end, I wasn’t spared from another (albeit milder) food poisoning. Luckily, I only had to vomit at night, and I quickly started feeling better, but like last time, I felt extremely weak in the following days and was plagued by stomach cramps. So, I spent a lot of my last time resting in bed.

As soon as I felt better, I went to the beach or engaged in other activities.

Then came the time to begin my return journey, at least a little bit. Because I had one more night to spend in Bangkok. I arrived in the evening, enjoyed the infinity pool with a view of the Bangkok skyline, freshened up, and went to sleep.

The next day, I had to part with some money left from the beginning of the trip ;) so I headed to a nearby mall to buy a decent sweater. Because when I arrive in Germany, I don’t want to go into a cold shock, as the temperatures can vary significantly from departure to landing.

Then it was off to the airport, and just like that, 3 months of traveling were over.

It’s really hard to summarize the trip in such a short time because there were many ups and downs. From 'I never want to leave here' to 'when will the trip finally be over', I experienced it all. And when I think back to the beginning when I was completely overwhelmed by these three months of traveling, I am now very proud that I managed it so well. Of course, it’s always easier to say in hindsight because I know the end of the story now. But I am incredibly grateful that I got to experience all this and return home happily with a fulfilled heart, many emotions, and wonderful memories.
