P-(rovince)town - place to be ...

Diterbitake: 07.07.2019

Our new temporary home is the Snug Cottage in Provincetown. A cozy house that matches the style of many houses here in the center of town. Very tastefully decorated, with a lot of 'Chi-Chi' but not kitschy.

We were already advertised the only available room for far less than 500 dollars a day as a 'small double room', so we were prepared for it ... But the reality was a bit harsh ... If the room had 12 sqm, then that was a good measurement. In addition, a bathroom/shower with about 3 sqm ... It was already difficult to open the two suitcases to use them. We always had to play Tetris to get everything ... But never mind, we have been living out of the suitcase for over two weeks now, so we can manage the last days ...

Our 'palace room' is called 'Spencer' - when we enter the room, we know why: Everything here revolves around Lady Di. Pictures of Prince William and Prince Harry hang on the wall and on the sideboard there is a large photo of Lady Di. Oh yes, and a photo of a smiling Camilla, being "laughed at" by a grinning horse. You can see who is liked here and who is not ...

Breakfast in the garden is perfect. There are few guests in the house - a few Americans (from Palm Springs) and a few Asians ... All in all, everything is good.

The weather is warm and humid ... After breakfast, we decide to take a walk through P-Town. It's too hot/humid for the beach ...

A lot of people are out and about. Although we are between two theme weeks, the street is filled with all sorts of different people. So there is a lot to see ...

Although we missed the CSD in Cologne, it's not really more colorful there than here ...

Of course, shopping is also part of the ritual. We discover beautiful t-shirts and shirts with patterns/motifs that are not usually found.

One saying caught our attention and made us smile: Provincetown - where the girls are strong and the men are pretty ... True!

In the early afternoon, we decide to go to the beach. Since the entire area around P-Town is a seashore national park, parking is expensive. The parking lot at the dunes costs 20 US$ per day ... For two or three hours, that was too expensive for us. We will invest that tomorrow for a whole day, then it is at least worth the time and we can see the beach. Whether we will still pay for it every remaining day, we will consider ... Unfortunately, the beach is too far away for a walk ...

So we go shopping for dinner and spend the afternoon on the terraces of the house. Drinks and small snacks are available here permanently ...

In the early evening, we walk through the town again and return for dinner.
