Today we are going to visit the Gamcheon Culture Village. It used to be a slum, but it has been transformed into a colorful village with various art projects. Its location is reminiscent of a Greek village as it is quite hilly, with many colorful houses. Many people still live here, and the walking path takes you through both touristy and residential areas, giving you a good sense of the local way of life.
The village is a good way to spend 1-2 hours, as there are some art projects that are more like temporary installations.
Afterwards, we will visit the largest fish market in Korea, the Jagalchi Fish Market. We will go to a multi-story market hall, where the first floor offers a wide variety of fish and seafood. I have to admit, I feel sorry for the animals, as many of them are kept in small tanks with a large number of other fish of the same species. Some of the fish are already dead, floating on the surface of the water.
You can buy fish or seafood and have them prepared at the restaurants on the upper floors.
However, we will go directly to the restaurants and have a grilled fish prepared for us - delicious! However, despite enjoying the food, we still feel guilty about the treatment of the animals, even though we contributed to reducing the number of fish in the tanks. :)
In the evening, we will take a stroll in our neighborhood (Samyeon): there are a variety of restaurants here, and it would be impossible to visit them all in one lifetime.
