Montego Bay Part 2 and Montreal Part 1

発行済み: 21.03.2017

After visiting the small old town of Montego Bay, we spent the rest of the week mainly at Doctor's Cave Beach and in the pool. This is by far the most beautiful beach in Montego Bay. It also has an additional major advantage compared to other beaches. It is a secluded beach club, so there are no annoying beach vendors.

We also took a little trip in Montego Bay. We took a route taxi from Montego Bay to Falmouth. This was an adventure for two reasons. Firstly, route taxis are often overcrowded (in our case, 21 people in a 12-seater). Secondly, Falmouth was a very Jamaican town. That means we stood out as tourists and therefore felt very observed and insecure. Otherwise, it was a very original and charming Jamaican town.

On Wednesday, it was time for us to pack our suitcases and head to the airport. We checked in for our flight to Atlanta. It started and landed on time. But then the drama started. After landing, we went to immigration. There we had to wait a whopping 2 hours before we could go through passport control. As a result, we missed our connecting flight to Montreal. So we went to the Delta transfer desk. There we were informed that there were no more flights that evening, so we had to spend the night on a rather uncomfortable bench at the Atlanta airport. The next morning, we flew to New York at 6:00 a.m. There we had to wait again before flying to Montreal.

When we arrived there, we realized that Rémy's luggage had not arrived. So we went to our apartment with only one suitcase. By the way, when we left the airport, we saw the German cross-country ski team.

On Friday, we visited Downtown Montreal and went to buy winter shoes, which was urgently needed. On Saturday, we visited the old town of Montreal. At the harbor, we went to the Montreal Science Center, where we could once again discover our joy of natural sciences like little children. Afterwards, we also watched an IMAX movie. On Saturday evening, we went out again.

We spent Sunday at the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in the center of the city. This is a kind of parade of all the clubs and institutions of Montreal. After this parade, we went to the Grévin Wax Museum. In the evening, we went to the cinema.

Today, we took a little walk to Mont Royal. From there, we had a great view of the whole city. Afterwards, we visited the Oratoire Saint-Joseph. This is the second largest church in Montreal and, like the cathedral in the old town, very beautiful.

Tomorrow we will visit the Olympic Park of Montreal 1976.

See you soon,

Rémy
