Favorite beach 'Petite Anse'

Penultimate vacation day begins - again today with bright sunshine and delicious breakfast with the sound of the sea in the background. I want to take this opportunity to mention that the Seychelles have really put in a lot of effort in terms of weather, since the one rainy day at the beginning of our trip, we've had daily sunshine and temperatures around 28-29 degrees...

Today we want to visit the favorite beach of our landlady, the 'Petite Anse'. It is located about 8 km away from us in the west, so we pack our things and set off.
On the way there, we make a stop at a small art gallery (Pineapple Studio Gallery) recommended in our guidebook. They have really beautiful things for sale and we buy a beach towel with a fabric designed by the owner himself. I make a note on my to-do list at home to Google how to tie such a towel as a beach dress (after all, you can always learn something even at the end of a vacation) and now we continue to the beach.
For this, we have to pass a hotel (4 Seasons/5 stars) again, so we park the car, register at the hotel gate, and then we can walk the last meters to the bay, it's all very uncomplicated.
And even the steep descent to the beach is a landscape spectacle. We have a view of the bay with its different shades of blue: light blue-turquoise-dark blue, see for yourself in the pictures!

Although we don't have the pleasure of being taken to the beach by one of the numerous electric cars that drive around the area - as mentioned in the guidebook - it's actually much nicer to walk the distance, then you can enjoy the dream view for a long time.

When we arrive at the bottom, we find a nice spot in the shade and put on our snorkeling masks and dive into the large 'bathtub'. The water is crystal clear and we see fish as soon as we put our heads underwater. Although we had some difficulties finding the right snorkeling spots at the beginning of the vacation, we have really hit the jackpot in the last few days when it comes to snorkeling. By now, we also know a bit more about the fish species that we find here in the underwater world on a daily basis, because Mama's uncle - a diligent blog reader - always identifies the fish types: Whitecheek Surgeonfish, Longfin Batfish, Blue Striped Surgeonfish, Pacific Sergeant, Blotcheye Snapper, Checkerboard Surgeonfish...

At this point, 'Thank you' Bernhard for your diligence and I will finally add the snapshot of the octopus to this blog, which I forgot to do yesterday, because we saw it while snorkeling at Sunset Beach.

When you read about all the sub-species of the surgeonfish, you might think that aspiring doctors feel at home in the underwater world of the Seychelles...

And as I was typing 'batfish', I realized that I haven't even mentioned that there are numerous bats in the Seychelles. They often fly around at dusk and you also regularly see them hanging on trees and then sleeping... Before we arrived, I wasn't aware that these animals are native here.

But now back to the daily report: After snorkeling, we head back towards Victoria, where we make a stop at the swimming pool and then we visit the souvenir shop again, where the saleswoman promised at the beginning of our trip to make a bookmark for me with a typical Seychelles motif. And indeed, she produces a bookmark from behind the counter, she has chosen the 'Flycatcher' as the motif - a bird with a long black tail feather, of which there are only a few specimens left in the Seychelles. I will definitely cherish this work of art and was very happy about it!

On the way home, we stop by a local bakery, an older lady bakes everything herself here and her creations look delicious: banana cake, passion fruit cake, filled puff pastry pockets, samosas, etc. and the tasting confirmed the appearance. It's hard to choose, you just want to try everything once.

We also make a brief stop at the Takamaka Rum Distillery (which is the local rum - a specialty here in the Seychelles) to visit the souvenir shop. I really like the colors & design of this brand - a small impression in the photos!

After a little refreshment at home, we set off again - and somehow we are drawn back to the beach we visited in the morning. More precisely, we first go to its neighboring bay, 'Anse Soleil', because here you can also snorkel wonderfully. The travel guide does not make false promises here either, so let's enjoy the underwater world again. By now the sun is relatively low and watching the fish activity in the evening light is very different and definitely charming.

The icing on the cake for this vacation follows shortly after we come out of the water after snorkeling: I spot dolphins in the bay - it is simply 'magical' how their fins keep emerging from the sea - what more could you want on this vacation?

After snorkeling, we climb the steep road back to the car (the parking lot is the same as this morning at the 'Petite Anse', only the path to the bay is different), unload the snorkeling stuff and then continue to Petite Anse, where we want to watch the sunset against the backdrop of the bay. It's really wonderful here, I have chosen this beach as my absolute favorite bay of the vacation and I can only agree with our landlady.

In twilight, we head home again, cook, enjoy a delicious meal, and then of course write the blog, which is my evening ritual every day. At this point, I would also like to thank you for the kind feedback on my travel report, I always appreciate it!
