We have been in Taupo for four days now, a small but beautiful city in the middle of the North Island, known primarily for its location on the large Lake Taupo and for all the adrenaline activities (skydiving, bungee jumping, rafting, etc.) that can be done here.
Unfortunately, we won't be jumping off a cliff here on a rope. Instead, we prefer to take it easy and on Monday we went to Huka Falls, a small waterfall in the Waikato River that flows through Taupo.
Yesterday we took a boat tour on Lake Taupo to see the famous Māori Rock Carvings, an artwork that four artists worked on for four years until 1980. A Māori commissioned it as a monument to his ancestor Ngatoroirangi, whose face should be depicted in the artwork.
