The Ochsenbauch Bay and Odysseus

発行済み: 19.07.2019

#TravelingInHeaven Part 4

The Ochsenbauch Bay is insane. Like a South Seas atoll, it lies there and attracts families and bathers. The dusty access road is lined with cars and motorhomes on both sides.

No possibility to consume anything, no shower, no shade. Accordingly, everyone is well equipped with cool bags, drinks, and sun umbrellas. I am not and I will run out of water and force myself to continue too early.

In front of the Ochsenbauch Bay a sign uphill: Archeological Site. Nothing like it. The narrow path leads through the roof and to the dome grave of Thrasymedes. I'll read about that later, there is no indication here what the round stone thing should be. That's why just an approximate photo.

By the way: Thrasymedes is the son of Nestor, who fought on the side of Agamemnon in the Trojan War. And who made a snack for Odysseus' son, young Telemachus, so that he could strengthen himself and search for his dad. The palace of Nestor is also somewhere here. End of history.

A steep path leads down to a small bay. 5 people and 4 dogs seem to live here. And they know why. A dreamlike bay, secluded from the masses, invites you to swim naked and meditate. I leave my name on a stone with blue poster paint, something the inhabitants of this idyll wish for the guests who pass by by chance.
