Tuesday, 22.11.2016:
We check into our twin room with shared bathroom at YHA Auckland City Hostel, which has just been completely renovated and makes a good impression. Afterwards, we explore the city until we reach the harbor.
In Auckland, there is no clear architectural line to be seen, much of it is under construction or being renovated, which initially confused us.
In the evening, we stop at a nice, cozy steakhouse with great food. We fall tired into bed and call it a day.

After a hearty breakfast, we visit the beautifully landscaped green Albert Park and the adjacent university with its bell tower.
Our wanderlust takes us further up the mountain to the 'War Memorial Museum'. On the vast lawn in front, a sports event is being prepared, which will take place on the weekend. A perfect place to sunbathe, relax and engage in sports activities, away from the noise of the city.
Due to the lack of sun protection and increasing water scarcity, we return to the hotel for a short siesta.
We decide to visit the 328-meter high Sky Tower in Auckland. At 220 meters, there is an observation deck from which we could enjoy an excellent view of the city and surrounding area (allegedly up to 80 km away) in bright sunshine.
