Namibia 2024: Holidays in the mountains
Today we want to take it easy and use this wonderful area to relax.
So today we'll have a relaxed breakfast at 9:00 a.m.
We look at pictures from the last few days and recall one or two anecdotes.
Afterwards, Kristina and I prefer the pool area.
Susi and Carsten want to follow in the Namibian footsteps of Louis Trenker today.
After about 2 hours we are reunited at the pool and have lunch.
Now it's time to chill until our much-announced 3 spot activity starts at 4 p.m.
It's about 2x Bushman rock paintings and the large stone arch.
The whole thing should take 2 hours.
Benny, who greeted us somewhat shyly, introduces himself as our guide.
So hop on Benny's Toyota and off we go on a wild ride...
No way, Benny apparently holds the world record for slow 4x4 driving. Even the guinea fowl and our own exhaust fumes overtake us.
A little slower and we drive backwards.
But we will arrive safely at Spot 1.😂
Here we get to see the first rock paintings of the Bushmen.
Okay, not me, because I left my normal glasses in the car and it's a bit dark in the cave with sunglasses.
Of course, I'm the idiot who is leaning comfortably against this prehistoric painting 😂😂🫣🤦♂️
But everything has an advantage, I was able to elicit emotions from Benny!
Then we went to Small Bushman's Paradise.
Here we were shown more painted hunting scenes, which this time I was able to look at from an appropriate distance.
My questions about the pictures were answered with a lot of knowledge and expertise.
“Benny, how many years do you think it will take before the pictures will no longer be visible?”
Benny: “A few years!”
OKAY 😂😂
Susi's question: "Why don't you protect the paintings against sun and similar?"
was answered with a professional shrug!😂
Afterwards we went to Rock Arche, where Benny got out without saying a word and started walking, we followed like lemmings.
If I didn't know better, I would say that he has Frisian roots 😂
The Rock Arche is really beautiful and worth seeing.
Overall the 3 Spot Tour is really good.
Unfortunately, it is massively drawn out by Benny driving at a walking pace.
Afterwards we position ourselves on the rock with the sofas and wait for the sundowner cinema program.
It was so nice and entertaining that we went to dinner today without washing our hands or doing our hair.
The food was, as always, simply great.
One more Amarula and we make a FaceTime call with Papa Horst.
It's unbelievable how stable the Internet is.
A lot has changed in the last few years!
There is almost never any reception on the road, neither telephone nor internet. In the lodges, however, the internet is almost always top notch.
So now with the flashlight 15 minutes to the tent and then it's
Good night Africa, sleep well!!
