From Trieste to Ljubljana

発行済み: 07.09.2018

After a not so pleasant night at the hostel (the beds are very close together and I am still annoyed about the things I forgot on the bus), I go straight to breakfast and check out. Before going into the city and catching my bus to Ljubljana, I want to go swimming if possible and visit Miramar Castle. I manage to do both, which is really a great highlight. Miramar Castle, right near the hostel, offers a beautiful photo backdrop! Since I was there relatively early (9:30), there are hardly any people, which makes my walk around the castle even more impressive. The hostel away from the city was definitely worth it! On the way back to the hostel, I also find a spot where swimming is allowed (otherwise it's all a nature reserve). While diving, I see some fish as well as a few small jellyfish, of which I'm not sure if they are dangerous... Because of that, my swim is relatively short. But later more swimmers arrive, so I don't think they would have been dangerous.
Before my Flixbus leaves, I still have time to buy a new charger and a power bank, and luckily I find them right away ;) Now the vacation can continue :)

Although the weather in Ljubljana is rainy, I immediately like the city. With the river running through it, it reminds me a little of Amsterdam, just not as big :) At the hostel, I immediately receive all the necessary information and tips from Aleks, the owner, even on how to best use my Interrail ticket. When I arrive, I am alone in the room, there is generally a lot of space, and I take the opportunity for a power nap :) In the evening, I meet up with Ali from Couchsurfing, an Indian guy who lives in Ljubljana, to explore the city and have dinner. Unfortunately, Slovenian cuisine and vegetarianism are not easily combined, so I wasn't completely happy with my food choice (vegetarian risotto).
