I just can't warm up to Bolivia...
For 15 euros and 100 Bs entrance fee we went to Machu Picchu in Bolivia ~ that's what it said everywhere...
The beginning was already sickening. 8.10 meeting. 9 a.m. first someone there - then -yes- so now we go to the other agency uhhh...
At the other agency no one spoke to us and so another hour passed... oh it would have been nice to sleep...
At 10.30 we were on the road. Our 50-year-old bus squeezed through LaPaz between ruins and smog.
Shortly before 12 we were in Machu Picchu in Bolivia. Ok - let's be honest - the Bolivians must have been drinking or had never been to Peru. The Tiwanaku is just a ruin. Not more. There was also lunch on the excursion. You could have done without it. I probably have typhus or something now ^^
Well, around 5 p.m. we were back and strolled through the market that had been set up.
Christmas Eve. Not really celebrated here, except with a much larger market. There is simply everything here. So big. Indescribable. And what rubbish. Mainly cheap clothes. Cool. Laura is now the proud owner of Lugig and Minion socks. I once treated myself to 3 boxers :D let's see if there's a rash...
At 9 and 10 a.m. we treated ourselves to a massage. Well for 17 euros it was ok.
We then continued to stroll through the market and the Australians came forward. We met at a cable car station and rode completely around LaPaz for 18 bolivars (not quite 2.5 euros)
In the evening we wanted to eat in a German restaurant, but it was closed.
Rest for our souls. I also wasn't feeling well. I don't know if it was the massage or the food. We watched documentaries and just relaxed all day 😀
In the evening we should also take the bus to Uyuni (8 p.m.). At short notice we received a WhatsApp message that we had been rebooked to Transport Omar. Here are a few quotes from the reviews:
"We have just made the trip to Uyuni la Paz, we are a French family and our computer, my daughter's tablet and phone as well as 1800 euros in cash were stolen during the trip"
But we survived the journey. A number of people were picked up on the side of the road, but it was quiet for us. It just stank in the bus and there was no air conditioning, so there was strange air in the bus.
When we arrived in Uyuni we took a taxi and drove to the hostel. We had us here between 6:30 and 8:30. Sleeping on the bus wasn't really possible. Then we came to the great breakfast. See pictures. Oh how I miss the delicious Christmas breakfast 😞
At 9 a.m. we wanted to book the trip for tomorrow's excursion - they said cash only. None of the machines (7 of them) still had Bolivians or dollars. The hotel is also still open. Damned. After a good 2 hours we went back to the agency and were able to pay via credit card. Phewhg. Back at the hotel we kept eye cosmetics until 3 p.m. Then go back to Atms and lo and behold. At some point there was 💰 money. Yay :)
We quickly stopped at the restaurant and went to our room to get fit for tomorrow and take a shower and finally freshen up.
Tomorrow we're going to the Uyuni Salt Flats for 3 days ;)
See you soon
